Our Mission

2nd Home Adult Medical Day Care and Day Habilitation Center provides comprehensive daytime support programs designed to meet the individual needs of both elderly adults and adults with developmental disabilities. Our participants live at home in the evenings and on weekends while receiving compassionate, personalized care for their medical, social, rehabilitative, and developmental needs during the day, Monday through Friday.

2nd Home has been providing care, support, companionship, and counseling since 1998—helping participants maintain independence, improve quality of life, and stay actively connected to their communities.

Why 2nd Home?
2nd Home’s Adult Medical Day Care and Day Habilitation programs offer social, recreational, health, and life-skills activities in a group setting that:

  • Provide opportunities for participants to socialize, build friendships, and engage in meaningful activities that promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Offer structured, individualized care and support for adults who cannot be left alone during the day yet do not require 24-hour nursing care.
  • Encourage community inclusion, creativity, and skill-building in a nurturing, bilingual environment.
Goals of 2nd Home Adult Medical Day Care and Day Habilitation Center:

Building on the supportive and inclusive environment offered within a group setting, 2nd Home programs work to:

  • Promote each participant’s highest level of independence, confidence, and personal growth.
  • Maintain and enhance functional, cognitive, and social abilities through engaging, individualized daily activities.
  • Restore and rehabilitate participants to their optimal level of physical and emotional well-being.
  • Encourage skill-building, creativity, and community integration for adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Provide support, respite, and education for families and caregivers to strengthen the care network around each participant.
  • Foster meaningful socialization, peer interaction, and a sense of belonging in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Serve as an integral part of New Jersey’s community service network and long-term care continuum, bridging health care, rehabilitation, and personal development.
